KCR demands funds to conduct Manjeera Pushkarlu

Sangareddy, April 09: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K Chandrasekhar Rao criticised the state government for failing to conduct ‘Manjeera Pushkaralu’ officially even while governments of other states like Karnataka and Maharashtra are doing it by providing special bus facilities and other amenities to pilgrims on the river bank.

The TRS chief, along with his wife, took a holy dip in river Manjeera at Saraswati temple near Perur in Medak mandal. Earlier, he performed special pooja to the river marking the beginning of Manjeera Pushkaralu today. Party MP Vijayasanthi too accompanied him.

Later, speaking to mediapersons, Rao charged the government with being biased against organising Manjeera Pushkaralu in the region even while showing interest in holding Krishna Pushkaralu by sanctioning huge amount of funds.

“In united Andhra Pradesh, not just people, even rivers are facing bias and there is no other example needed to prove it,” he said.

He demanded that the government should release Rs 10 crore for the ‘Pushkaralu’ and also run special buses from various places to enable pilgrims take holy dip in the river.

He criticised the three ministers from Medak district for failing to attend the start of Pushkaralu today.

As a huge number of devotees have reached the village to take part in Pushkaralu, the district administration should take up the responsibility to provide some amenities even though the government has not declared the river fete as an official programme.

He lamented that even the collector and SP of the district have not attended the programme.

He appealed to goddess Saraswati Devi to endow wisdom to the government, district ministers and officials.

Many TRS leaders also participated in the Pushkaralu which would continue for a week.
