KCR committed to scribes’ welfare: Narayana

Hyderabad: Press Academy Chairman Allam Narayana today said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was committed for the welfare of journalists in the State. “KCR gets the credit for setting aside Rs 100 crore funds for welfare of journalists, who participated in the statehood movement.

Along with governing body members K Srinivas and Gourishankar, Narayana gave away Rs 18.5 lakh among kin of 16 deceased journalists. From Rs 100 crore funds, Rs 34.50 crore was credited to our funds to extend financial assistance to the kin of the scribes in need, he said. The Media Academy was offering help and training classes to the journalists. More welfare schemes will be implemented for the journalists on constructing the building for Media Academy and introduce Journalism courses that will help them shine in the field. He expressed concern that some young journalists died recently as they ignored their health condition as part of their busy life.
