KCR calls for “Telangana Rajyam” as Harishwar Reddy joins TRS

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday asked people in the region to support the call for “Telangana Rajyam”.

Addressing a public meeting here on the occasion of suspended TDP MLA K Harishwar Reddy joining the TRS, Chandrasekhar Rao ridiculed the calls being given for “Chandranna Rajyam” or “Rajanna Rajyam” by the TDP and YSR Congress parties. He said people of the region have witnessed both the “Rajyams” and have realised that the solution to all their problems lie in “Telangana Rajyam”.

Chandrasekhar Rao said he was invited to Delhi for talks on the statehood issue. The Congress High Command laid certain conditions including the merger of TRS with the Congress party. He said he agreed for everything for the sake of statehood. However, he said that the Congress party has cheated the people of the region by not announcing Telangana.

The TRS chief also announced that the Viqarabad district would be formed after the creation of Telangana State. He said the drinking water and irrigation needs of the Ranga Reddy district could be solved by constructing up a Lift Irrigation system on Krishna River at Lakshmidevipally near Shadnagar. He said the new system could solve the water problems of Viqarabad, Chevella, Tandur and surrounding areas. Stating that Ranga Reddy district was part of Krishna Basin, he said that the successive governments have ignored the problems being faced by the people in the district.

Chandrasekhar Rao appealed to the people not to get carried away with the promises being made to them by the Congress Government, TDP or YSR Congress party. Stating that the Kiran Kumar Reddy Government was in huge trouble, he said this was the right time to “Demand and Command” the formation of Telangana State. He also appealed to the people not to commit suicide for the cause of statehood and instead asked them to intensify their struggle.

While addressing the Muslims in Urdu language, he said that the Ganga-Jamuni culture of Telangana needs to be revived. He said that the statehood movement was not confined to the people of one religion or caste. He appealed to the Muslims to join the struggle for formation of Telangana State, where they would be given a reservation of 12 per cent in jobs and education.

Earlier, addressing the gathering Harishwar Reddy announced that he has joined the TRS as it has been struggling for the Telangana State for the last 12 years. He said while the Congress party was always against Telangana, it was TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu who obstructed the State formation on several occasions. He expressed confidence that the Telangana State could be formed under the leadership of KCR. (INN)
