Even as the slugfest among two Telugu States reached its peak as Centre reportedly seized off the “cash-for-vote” scam case, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today called on Governor ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan and closeted with him for some time.
The Chief Minister reportedly discussed on the current political scenario that took a new turn of seeking removal of Narasimhan by TDP leaders. Naidu is learnt to have made a strong pitch with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for immediate removal of the Governor for not coming to his rescue or set the things right. The meeting assumes significance as Telangana ACB is reportedly getting ready to serve notices to Chandrababu Naidu on getting report from Forensic Lab on his voice in audio tapes related to phone-tapping row.
In the meeting KCR shared his views with Narasimhan and the latter informed the former about the mood of the Centre on the row. Other issue that must have prominently figured in the meeting was that Naidu exerting pressure on the Centre on Governors’ powers though Section 8 is not required in Hyderabad. Besides, Chandrababu is ready to take on the might of his Telangana counterpart as the cash for vote row belittled him and damaged his image according to sources.
It may be mentioned here that a group of ministers from AP, including Deputy Chief Minister K E Krishna Murthy sought the head of Narasimhan for not taking effective steps even after KCR threatening Naidu of jail term and dire consequences followed by Revanth Reddy’s episode. At this crucial juncture, Naidu constituted SIT and directed it to submit a report immediately on the imbroglio that remanded Revanth Reddy and other two ‘accomplices’ till June 29 followed by ACB petition.
Naidu is unhappy at the Centre and the Governor as the entire episode is apparently dragging him into the issue. Based on SIT’s report, Naidu’s Government is likely to ask his ACB or police department to plunge into action. It may be noted that Naidu himself wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking implementation of Section 8. (NSS)
