Rajya Sabha MP and Congress senior leader V. Hanumantha Rao said that the Congress party made mistakes in selection of candidates for the ongoing MLC elections from Local Authorities’ Constituencies.
Addressing a press conference in Assembly premises here on Sunday, VHR said that the candidates were not selected on the basis of their experience, sincerity or committment. But they were given preference on the basis of recommendations by top leaders. He said this proved costly for the party as most of them withdrew their candidature in favour of TRS.
VHR alleged that KCR came to power on the promise of making ‘Bangaru Telangana’ (Golden Telangana). However, the Chief Minister is now busy making ‘Bangaru TRS’ by breaking opposition parties. He alleged that KCR has been utilising his black money, accumulated through kickbacks, to purchase leaders of opposition parties. He said KCR actions have proved that Telangana State was heading towards dictatorship as the TRS Government has killed democracy multiple times.
The Congress MP advised leaders from his party to restrain from joining TRS. Dharampuri Srinivas had served as PCC president for two terms while Dr. K. Keshava Rao too is an ex-PCC President. Both of them had respect and voice while they were with the Congress party. However, they lost their voice and importance after joining the TRS. He said if some leaders and workers still want to join TRS, then they must do it now itself so that the Congress party could continue its journey on the basis of committed workers. (INN)
