Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao vowed to develop the old city on par with other areas in the state capital and at the same time appealed to Hindus and Muslims to uphold the age-old “ Ganga-Jumuna tehzeeb” by maintaining communal harmony.
The Chief Minister was addressing a gathering of the residents of Dabeerpura area in the walled city on Wednesday while participating in the Swatch Hyderabad campaign. He interacted with the residents and apprised himself of their day to day civic needs and other problems confronting them.
Deputy Chief Minister Md. Mahmood Ali, Minister Jagdeesh Reddy, Hyderabad Lok Sabha member and AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi, GHMC Commissioner, City Police Commissioner, MLAs and officials were present at the programme.
Addressing the residents of the area the Chief Minister pointed out that for six months the administration of Telangana state could not take off due to the non allocation of the officers after the new state was carved out. However now with this process completed, the administration has been put on the rails and efforts are being made to speed up various developmental and welfare activities, he observed.
KCR further reminded the gathering that the TRS government had dispelled the propaganda that the new state would faced acute power shortage. Likewise the Telangana state is marching ahead by initiating various welfare programmes for the people and developmental activities to usher in Bangaru Telangana, he added.
Referring to various issues and problems being faced by the people in the area, KCR immediately announced a grant of Rs.21 crores for constructing a water reservoir with a 1000 KL capacity to mitigate the drinking water problem. He also directed the concerned officials to begin the work immediately.
As regards the need for upgrading the drainage system in the area, the Chief Minister sanctioned an amount of Rs.25 crores to begin the work immediately. He assured that all steps would be taken to develop the old city on par with other areas in Hyderabad. Reminding the residents about the age-old cultural heritage and peaceful co-existence of the people for the past few centuries, he stressed the importance of communal harmony to take the old city forward on the path of development.(NSS).
