Hyderabad: Stating that the ruling TRS party has got the idea of constructing double bedroom houses only after seeing the single bed room scheme implemented by the Congress party during its regime, Congress party leaders demanded the state government to release pending bills of beneficiaries of Indiramma Houses scheme.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Tuesday, Congress senior leader and former Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, MLA Rammohan Reddy, former DCC Chief K Mallesh, former MLAs D Sudheer Reddy, Koona Srisailam Goud, Malkajgiri constituency in-charge Nandikanti Sridhar and others have said that the earlier Congress government strived for the fulfillment of the dream of poor people living in their own houses. The earlier government constructed nearly 80,000 houses in 412 acres of land in 32 places and spent Rs.1742 crores for the construction of these houses by the state and centre.
About 1.73 lakh applications were filed within a week in Rangareddy district in response to the TRS government’s statement that it will construct one lakh double bed room houses for the poor in Greater Hyderabad limits. “It shows the eagerness of the poor people and as to how they are waiting for own houses”, they said. They explained that already 30,000 single bed room houses were ready to occupy and were constructed during Congress party regime.
Reminding the state government’s statement that it will receive constructive suggestions from the opposition party, they demanded that the government has to receive their constructive suggestion and allot 30,000 houses to the beneficiaries immediately. They said that then Congress government constructed 80,000 houses and allotted 50,000 houses to the beneficiaries but the remaining houses were fell vacant for the last two years. They asked the government to allot the 30,000 houses to the beneficiaries keeping its ego aside.
Saying that earlier government collected 30 percent corpus fund from the beneficiaries and that amount Rs.250 crore was with the government, they asked the TRS government to return the same amount to the beneficiaries, who were deposited it. They said that the beneficiaries were ready to occupy the single bed room houses in case the government allotted them to the beneficiaries adding they were submitted a memorandum to the government asking the latter to clear the pending bills of the Indiramma houses.
