KCR announces one residential school for each assembly constituency of Telangana State

Hyderabad: Reading out a statement on the residential schools to be opened for backward classes through the Mahatma Jyothiba Phule Telangana BC Welfare Residential Education Institutions Society, Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao announced that a total of 119 residential schools would be opened State-wide from the coming academic year, one for each Assembly constituency, by which 76,160 students would benefit.

He said the government will open a residential school for backward classes (BC) in each of the 119 assembly constituencies in the state. The schools would be English medium offering classes from standard 5 to intermediate. The government will spend Rs 1.25 lakh per student towards creating infrastructure, and providing nutritious food, books and uniforms besides providing quality education on par with corporate schools, he said.

Speaking further CM Chandrasekhar Rao said, “The government has already decided to set up 130 residential schools for scheduled castes (SC) and 50 for Scheduled Tribes (ST).It also sanctioned 200 residential schools for minorities, of which 71 began functioning last year”.
