KCR among several TRS activists held

Hyderabad, October 29: Hundreds of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) activists including itspresident K Chandrasekhara Rao were taken into preventive custody as partof their `Jail Bharo’ programme demanding the Central Government to bring anamendment to the Constitution in the wake of Supreme Court order thatHyderabad was a free zone. All the leaders were released later on personal surety.

Police took the TRS activists into custody as they tried to proceed towards the Secretariat from Indira Park.

Mild tension prevailed following lathicharge on TRS activists atIndira Park after which the situation was brought under control on the intervention of the party leaders and police officials.

Earlier, Chandrasekhar Rao addressing a meeting at Indira Park fixed a new deadline for the formation of the Telangana state.

He said that after representing the Telangana issue to the Prime Minister once again, he would go on an `indefinite fast’ at Martyrs Memorial statue in Siddipet in Medak district in the last week of November.

He also said that Central and State Governments would be held responsible for any consequences on this issue.

TRS ideologue K Jayashankar said that formation of the Telangana was only solution for all the problems.

TRS supporter and retired chief engineer of CWC R Vidyasagar Rao said thatTRS chief should announce an action plan to achieve the Telangana state. He said organising meetings and protest programme were of no use in achieving the Telangana state.

Telangana Vidyavantula Vedika (TVV) State president Prof M Kodandaram urged the Chief Minister K Rosaiah to make stand clear on the issue. As a preventive measure, no visitors were allowed in the Secretariat today and security has been tightened.
