Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday directed the officials to prepare a master plan to turn Hyderabad into a clean and green city.
Addressing the orientation camp at HICC here, KCR said stressed the need for a concentrate approach to develop Hyderabad as an international city. He insisted that all officials including police personnel should participate in the Swachh Hyderabad campaign to be held from 16th to 20th May. He said that the entire city has been divided into 400 areas and separate teams would be deployed for each area to undertake the Swachh Hyderabad campaign. By May 10, the list of all 35,835 participants will be prepared.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government would spend Rs 50 lakh on each area and Rs 200 crore have been earmarked for the purpose. He said a committee of 15 local residents should be formed and subsequently, 6,000 Change Agents should be involved in the campaign. He said 50 per cent of Change Agents should be women.
KCR said that the Haritha Haram campaign would be launched in the month of July and at least three crore saplings should be planted in Hyderabad during this programme. He also elaborated on his plans to improve signal systems on the lines of Dallas of US. He reiterated that the government would provide permanent shelter for two lakh poor people living in Hyderabad.
The programme was attended by Legislative Council chairman Swamy Goud, Deputy CMs Mahmood Ali and Kadiyam Srihari, Ministers Nayani Narasimha Reddy, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Eatala Rajender, T Harish Rao, T Padma Rao, Azmeera Chandulal, Tummala Nageshwara Rao, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Jagadish Reddy, Mahender Reddy, Jogu Ramanna, Jupally Krishna Rao, Indira Karan Reddy, Assembly Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy, Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar and senior officials.
Making a Power Point Presentation, Somesh Kumar informed that the GHMC area have been divided into 400 compact geographical units as Swachh units of 1 to 2 sq. kms comprising of 4-5 colonies for the campaign. Additional 25 Swachh units of ILA and Secunderabad Cantonment Board will also be taken up. Each Swachh unit will be adopted by a Minister, IAS, IPS or IFS senior officer as its Patron /Mentor. The unit will be managed by a team comprising of GHMC Nodal Officer, Police Official, HMWS&SB official, Bill Collector, Sanitary field assistants and Sanitation workers. (INN)
