Nizamabad MP K Kavitha took oath as the Chief Commissioner of Telangana unit of Bharat Scouts and Guides at a programme held in Domalguda here on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Kavitha thanked Governor ESL Narasimhan for facilitating the bifurcation of Bharat Scouts and Guides and said technically, the Telangana unit began its operations from today onwards. She said she was impressed with the Scouts and Guides since her childhood and it was a great honour for her to lead the organisation as its Chief Commissioner. Stating that the school children should be encouraged to join the organisation, he enthralled the students to work the development of Telangana State. She hoped that Telangana’s unit would emerge as the best unit in the country.
Meanwhile, speaking to media persons Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari said it was for the first time in the country that Bharat Scouts and Guides would be headed by a woman. (INN)
