TRS MP from Nizamabad Kalvakuntla Kavitha has said the State government took a serious view on harassment against women and initiating several steps to protect them. As part of it, the government was planning to provide all facilities to the police.
The Cyberabad Police Commissionerate here on Sunday organized a rally at Madhapur on the occasion of completion of one year of the She Teams. Kavitha, former MLA and cine actress Jayasudha Kapoor and others participated in the rally.
Speaking on the occasion, Kavitha said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has been relentlessly striving to transform the State into Bangaru Telangana and also initiated several steps for safety of working women and girls. As promised, the Chief Minister established She Teams last year. Stating that the She Teams were working effectively, she lauded the efforts of Cyberabad Police Commissioner C V Anand in the successful working of the She Teams. Pointing out that some 3.6 lakh software personnel were working in the IT corridor, 35 per cent of them were women and their safety if the government’s responsibility. She also called upon the harassed women to boldly come forward to lodge complaints and help the police bring the culprits to book.
Cyberabad police said the She Teams have registered 686 cases and arrested 832 offenders in the past one year. Cases under Nirbhaya Act were registered against seven accused. (NSS)
