Kavitha meets Javadekar on Meal Scheme workers salary

Hyderabad: TRS MP, Kavitha today sought the Centre to increase the salaries of workers of Mid-Day Meals scheme in Telangana State. Along with a team of MPs and some workers the MP called on Union Human Resources Development Minister Prakash Javadekar in Delhi and apprised him of plight of the workers getting only Rs 1000 a month.

As the little amount will not be sufficient, the Centre should take steps to increase it suitably, she said. Kavitha also urged the Union Minister to take steps to increase their salary to Rs 10,500 a month from Rs 1000 they are being paid now. The MP also urged Prakash Javadekar for implementing EPF and ESI and other facilities on par with workers as per the norms of Centre’s labour law.(NSS)
