Kavitha hints at cabinet reshuffle

Nizamabad MP K Kavitha on Sunday indicated that her father and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao might undertake a minor reshuffle in his cabinet to induct a woman minister.

Addressing a meeting organised by Telangana Jagruthi at Warangal, Kavitha said that the Chief Minister was seriously considering giving representation to women in his council of ministers. However, she did not specify when it would be done.

It may be mentioned that Telangana is among a few States in the country which has no representation of women in the State Cabinet. If KCR decides to induct a woman minister, then he would have to drop one existing minister to replace her. KCR had expanded his cabinet on December 16 last year and as per the rules, he cannot have more than 16 ministers for a 119-member Assembly. Therefore, inclusion of a woman minister means that KCR would be going for a reshuffle and at least one minister will be dropped from the council of minister. (INN)
