Member of Parliament Kavitha today exhorted the print and electronic media to maintain quality journalism, instead of sensational stories. The newspapers ought to write facts in an impartial manner and should take the responsibility to help the government promote programs for social justice and inclusive growth.
She launched “Manam” Dailay at Prasads Labs along with Deputy Chief Minister Mahamood Ali, Excise Minister Padma Rao Goud and others. Speaking on the occasion, Kavitha while appreciating the management of the newspaper, asked to maintain decency and decorum in journalism with standards and quality news to focus on key issues. She asserted that the media should try to focus on peoples’ issues and enable the lower and deprived classes benefit from welfare schemes of the government. For this, the media houses have to shift their focus on such issues and give wide coverage for welfare and development programs, she remarked.
Mahamood Ali noted that the state government under the able stewardship of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is giving top priority for all round development. The media has to write news items pertaining to the poor and destitute, he said. The flagship programs like Kalyana Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak are brainchild of KCR to help Dalits, Muslim Minorities to perform marriage of their girl children, he claimed. ‘We are focusing more on welfare sector and offering pensions to the old age, widows and physically challenged’ he said.
Padma Rao Goud said that the TRS Government is implementing schemes which are not mentioned in the manifesto. Credit for this goes to the chief minister, and media has to play even better role for the development of the state, he added.(NSS)
