Kavitha assures to take steps for growth of Urdu

Stating that the TRS Government was working for the development of all sections of the society, Nizamabad MP K. Kavitha on Sunday assured that Urdu journalists in Telangana would be given all benefits on par with other journalists in the State.

Speaking after inaugurating the day-long orientation programme for Urdu journalists of north Telangana districts organised by Telangana Urdu Journalists Forum (TUJF) at Bhooma Reddy Convention Centre in Nizamabad today, Kavitha said that the State Government was liberal in issuing accreditation cards to all deserving journalists. She said that benefits of Health Cards were extended even to those journalists who did not possess an Accreditation Card. She said cards were issued to both field reporters and desk journalists. She said nearly 150 journalists were provided financial assistance of about Rs. 2 crore for treatment under CMRF. She also announced that in case of death of any Urdu journalists, the State Government would provide Rs. 3 lakh assistance at the time of his daughter’s marriage.

Kavitha said journalism and politics have many similarities. She said initially both the professions involve hard work and both are aimed at serving people.

The Nizamabad MP assured that State Government would take all measures for the development of Urdu language in the State. Besides streamlining the system of giving awards to Urdu journalists, she asked the TUJF to conduct orientation programme in Nizamabad every year.

Addressing the Orientation Programme later, Minorities Welfare Department Secretary Syed Omer Jaleel gave an in-depth view of various welfare schemes being implemented by the State Government for the minorities. He said Urdu journalists should have a better understanding of these schemes as they could convey the same to deserving beneficiaries. He said media should not focus only on failures of government, but it should also help the authorities in dissemination of information to the people.

TUJF President M.A. Majid and other office bearers also addressed the programme which was attended by over 200 Urdu journalists. The orientation programme was divided in various session which were addressed by eminent journalists. (INN)
