Jakarta (Indonesia), Aug 10 : Indian ace shuttler Parupalli Kashyap cruised past his Dutch opponent Erik Meijs in straight sets to advance to the second round of the World Championships in Jakarta on Monday.
Commonwealth Games champion Kashyap overcame Meijs 21-17, 21-10 in a contest that lasted just 31 minutes at the Istora Senayan. The tenth seed will next face Vietnam’s Nguyen Tien Minh.
Meanwhile, H.S Prannoy also reached the second round after claiming a comfortable 21-12, 21-16 win over Brazil’s Alex Yuwan Tjong in 31 minutes.
Olympic bronze medallist Saina Nehwal, India Super Series winner Kidambi Srikanth and two-time bronze medal winner P V Sindhu will open their campaign on Tuesday. (ANI)
