Kashmir University to host conference on peace in Eurasia

Srinagar, August 16: A three-day international conference on Eurasian Peace and Co-operation will be held here from tomorrow to debate the nature and character of multilateral conflicts in the region, officials said.

Titled Eurasian Peace and Co-operation, Challenges and Opportunities, the conference is being organised by the University of Kashmir’s prestigious Centre for Central Asian Studies (CCAS).

It will be attended by Ambassador of Republic of Tajikistan in India Saidbeg Saidov and Ambassador of Republic of Kyrgyzstan Irina Abdyevna Oralbaeva besides other delegates from reputed institutions in India and abroad.

The conference will focus on addressing the challenges and prospects vis–vis finding a lasting solution to the conflicts in Eurasia, said event co-ordinator Mushtaq Ahmad Kaw.

He said the conference aimed at promoting peace and co-operation among the otherwise unfriendly Eurasian neighbours.

“We are hopeful that the conference will be a great success and the deliberations will address some key issues regarding peace in Eurasia,” Kaw said.
