Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday sent their top diplomats to Pakistan to discuss regional situation including the disputed Kashmir issue and help Islamabad defuse tensions with India.
Saudi Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al Jubeir and UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan held trilateral talks with the Pakistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Shah Qureshi.
A statement released after the meetings said Saudi Arabia and the UAE “would remain engaged to help address the current challenges, defuse tensions, and promote an environment of peace and security.”
Following the meeting with Foreign Minister, UAE and Saudi foreign ministers have met with the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan.
They will also hold meetings with Gen Qamar Jaived Bajwa, the country’s army chief.

The meeting with the Foreign Ministers is the result of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s diplomatic efforts.
Tension between the two nuclear-armed neighbors has spiked after the Central government had announced the decision to abrogate Article 370 which gave special status to Jammu Kashmir. It also bifurcated the state into two Union Territories.
