Kasganj: Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj remained tense after violence had erupted there on Republic Day. The town was curfewed as affiliates of right-wing groups -RSS and ABVP- torched two shops and a bus.
A boy was killed and the incident left another two injured. There were also reports of stone-pelting at a motorcycle rally taken out by right-wing volunteers on Mathura-Bareilly highway.
Some local Muslims were celebrating Republic day on Friday to honour Dr Ambedkar and had hoisted the tricolour. When bikers of ABVP and RSS were asked to take a different route as the celebration was going on in the way, they started abusing Muslims, by affiliating them with Pakistan.
