Karunanidhi appeals to all ‘Dravidian’ parties to come together

Chennai, March 21: In an apparent bid to woo MDMK leader Vaiko, who has pulled out of the AIADMK front, DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi today appealed to all “Dravidian” forces to come together to help the alliance led by his party win the April 13 assembly polls.

“Time has come for all those, who are left out and driven out from others and who had not sold themselves, to come together,” he said in an article in the DMK’s official organ Murasoli, a day after Vaiko announced his decision.

“In the electoral war, our army has enough strength and this force cannot be defeated by anybody. Some of us have left us. I am waiting to welcome them to defeat those who want to enjoy the divided Dravidan house. I am under a ‘tapas’ to welcome them in my arms as it will add strength to us.Let us welcome the tigers,” he said in an apparent reference to Vaiko’s pro LTTE leanings.

In any electoral battle it was natural for anybody to welcome support from any quarters in a bid to save democracy, he said.

The MDMK yesterday pulled out of AIADMK front due to ‘insults’ heaped on it by AIADMK leadership and decided not to contest the assembly polls.
