Karnataka will not tolerate Bajrang Dal’s ‘natak’: Roshan Baig

Bengaluru: Condemning the Chikmagalur attack on a Dalit family by the members of Bajrang Dal over rumours of cooking beef, Karnataka’s Urban Development Minister R. Roshan Baig on Sunday said the state will not tolerate moral policing in the name of religion.

“The Dalits are beaten up by the so called Bajrang Dal activists in the name of ‘gau raksha samiti’. The Government of Karnataka is very firm, we will not tolerate any moral policing,” said Baig.

The Bajrang Dal had earlier been charged with assaulting the Dalits over cow slaughtering and religious issues.

“The Bajrang Dal wants to project that they are the only protector of cows, they are the only Hindus. The Bajrang Dal is no one to teach us the preachings of Hindutva. We know Hindutva much better than them. We will not tolerate the Bajrang Dal’s so called ‘natak’ in Karnataka,” said Baig.

A Dalit family was attacked in Karnataka’s Chikkamagaluru by the members of Bajrang Dal over suspicion of cooking beef.

Seven people have been arrested in connection with this case under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act. (ANI)
