Bengaluru: Former Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa said that the BJP can come back in power in Karnataka “within 24 hours” if it wins 22 seats in the Lok Sabha elections in the upcoming general elections.
Yeddyurappa while speaking at a public meeting here on Sunday said: “I am not telling you this is out of audacity. If the people of Karnataka give us 22 seats in the coming Lok Sabha elections, we will form the government in Karnataka within 24 hours.”
Yeddyurappa has often been in the headlines over his statements while campaigning for 2019 national elections. Earlier after the Air Strikes by IAF, he said that the BJP is going to get the benefits of India’s air strikes in the Lok Sabha elections and will help BJP win 22 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka.
His remarks drew flak from everywhere, as his slip of the tongue led to condemnation all over the nation. However later in a damage control mode, he claimed that his statement had been reported out of context.
The Election Commission had announced the dates for the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections on Sunday and Karnataka will go to polls on April 18 and April 23. The counting of ballots will take place on May 23. BJP currently has 16 seats of Karnataka’s 28 parliamentary seats.
