Vice Chancellor of Karnataka University Dr. Walekar has been arrested under the charges of corruption. Kannada activist organizations staged dharna in front of the office of Dy. Commissioner demanding probe against the financial irregularities in all the universities of Karnataka. The protest was organized under the leadership of Mr. Shiv Sharanappa Khandal, President of the Association. A memorandum was sent to CM of Karnataka through the Dy. Commissioner in which a demand was made to investigate the charges of corruption in the recruitments of various universities. It is very regrettable that for the first time in the history of Karnataka a person of the stature of Vice Chancellor was sent to jail. There are reports that sexual harassment in the University, irregularities in Financial managements and preparation of fake marks sheet have been rampant in the Universities of Karnataka.
