Karnataka University postpones convocation to be addressed by JNU VC

Dharwad (Karnataka) [India]: The Karnataka University on Thursday postponed its convocation programme, which was to be addressed by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) vice-chancellor M. Jagadesh Kumar.

The convocation was scheduled to be held on March 4.

This development comes in the backdrop of the ongoing scuffle in Delhi University’s Ramjas College.

Earlier on Tuesday, around 500 students and teachers of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) held a public meeting and a march in solidarity with the students of Ramjas College.

A ‘Tiranga’ march was organised by the ABVP on Monday to invoke nationalist sentiments on the campus. The students of Delhi University students yesterday staged a protest against the ABVP at the SGTB Khalsa College in North Campus.

Last week, the All India Students Association (AISA) and the ABVP engaged into a scuffle over cancellation of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student Umar Khalid’s talk at Delhi University’s Ramjas College. (ANI)
