KOLAR: A 45-year-old woman was arrested in Karnataka’s Kolar district for allegedly killing her 18-year-old daughter for falling in love and neglecting her studies, police said on Tuesday.
“Venkatamma, an agricultural labourer, was arrested on Monday on charges of murder for hitting her daughter Rajeshwari with an iron rod, killing her on the spot,” Kolar superintendent of Police Rohini Katoch Sepat told IANS over phone.
According to the police, Venkatamma was angry over an alleged affair of Rajeshwari with a youth in their Chinnapura village.
“The accused confessed to the crime. She told police that her daughter was dating a boy of the village and had failed in her exam,” Sepat said.
Sub-Inspector S.A Shivaraj of Kolar Rural Police said Venkatamma was produced on Tuesday in the Sessions Court, which sent her to judicial custody.
