Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Shetty stabbed in office

Bengaluru: Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Vishwanath Shetty was stabbed in Bengaluru’s Lokayukta office around 2 pm today.

According to preliminary reports, accused identified as Tejas was immediately taken into custody by Vidhana Soudha police.

The Police are now reviewing the CCTV Footage were the accused is seen entering the premises on the pretext of speaking to the Lokayukta.

Reports suggest that Justice Shetty was stabbed multiple times in the Chest and stomach currently in a critical condition was taken to Mallya hospital.

Doctors at Mallya Hospital said that he has been shifted to ICU for the treatment.

“A person stabbed the Lokayukta in Bengaluru, the accused has been taken into custody,” said Karnataka Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy in Bengaluru.

Justice Vishwanath Shetty had sworn in as Karnataka’s Lokayukta on 28 January last year after the post went vacant following a bribery scandal.

According to the Police, the accused Tejas was summoned by the Lokayukta for questioning. He hails from Tumkur and was called in for an inquiry. He reportedly attacked Justice Shetty as soon as he entered his cabin, oneIndia reported.
