Karnataka HC declines PIL seeking investigation against officials named by DySP Ganapathy

BENGALURU: The High Court on Friday declined to entertain a public interest litigation seeking directions to Madikeri police to register FIR and conduct investigation against the names of police officials and minister named by DySP M K Ganapathy before committing suicide.

The division bench of Chief Justice Subhro Kamal Mukherjee and Justice Ravi Malimath observed that the criminal law has been set in motion with the son of the deceased police officer filing private complaint before magistrate.

The court also observed that alternative remedy is available before the magistrate’s court under section 156 of CrPC, while erecting the PIL.

R Ranganath Reddy and three others have filed this petition.
