Bangalore, August 12: Karnataka and Region Vastra Gotaland of Sweden have entered into a wide-ranging agreement to have a cultural exchange programme of knowledge and experience.
The agreement has been reached after two years of consultations and talks between individuals and organisations, public and private, engaged in the fields of the arts, culture and learning, an official press release said today.
The key partners in the exchange are the departments of Kannada and Culture and Information, Karnataka, and Vastra Gotaland on the West coast of Sweden which is one of the country’s largest regions with an area of 24,000 sq kms.
The President of the Committee of Cultural Affairs, Region Vastra Gotaland, Lars Nordstrom, said: “It is crucially important for a small, but vital region of Sweden, like Vastra Gotaland, to open out to emerging India and the knowledge city of Bangalore and culturally rich state of Karnataka to further our own interests in the fields of culture and knowledge”.
Areas of cooperation include programmes for dance and movement arts, cinema performing arts, film and media, photography, graphics and animation, networking workshops and seminars, film appreciation and film festivals, learning in the field of culture, cultural leadership, artists in residence and the art of storytelling.
