Hyderabad, April 29: Karnataka Minister for Large and Medium scale industries Murugesh R. Nirani today said that Karnataka is all out to attract investors in the state through its Global investors meet and is expecting an investment of Rupees three lakh crores and hopes to generate atleast two lakh jobs .
Speaking to SIASAT correspondent on the sidelines of the Investors meet held here in Hyderabad to attract industrialist to participate in the forthcoming Global Investors meet ON June 3 and 4 2010 Murugesh Nirani said that prior to the meet for the basic needs like water power and infrastructure development they have acquired one lakh acres of land and will develop the same in two phases .
About the power situation he said that two to three years before 12000 to 15000 MW of power was being generated through various means including hydro thermal wind bio mass . Although shortages are their all over the country including Karnataka the State proposes to meet the demand the state is embarking to generate 12000 MW in next three years .
Asked what are the areas the Global investors meet is looking at he said that steel cement textile hydro thermal wind energy pharma automobiles besides several others . However the focus areas is cement and steel industries .He said that Karnataka was the best and safe place to invest with about the IPL being shifted on grounds of security he added that the Police were doing their job well . An agency had made a study which had said that Karntaka was the best and safe place for investments.
He said that 3000 acres of land has been brought near the airport and another 1000 acres for a software park . Karnataka is now concentrating on two and three tier cities by giving special concessions and special packages to industries being set up in such two and three tier cities. Karnataka has come out with a new industrial policy 2009-14 with thrust on mining, textile and sugar policy.
