The dean of the Islamic Studies Faculty at the University of Karachi, Dr. Shakeel Auj, was shot dead by unknown assailants on Thursday.
His was fired at in his vehicle, following which, he was taken to the Aga Khan University Hospital where he was declared brought dead on arrival.
The Dawn quoted police, as saying that Dr. Auj was shot thrice in the neck and chest while heading to attend an event organized by the Iranian consulate with a fellow professor Tahir Maqsood.
His body is presently at the Jinnah Hospital for an autopsy.
The shoot-out took place in Karachi’s Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town near the Baitul Mukarram mosque. (ANI)
