‘Karachi attack a backlash from success of Waziristan campaign’: PCB boss

Asserting that Islamabad is extremely concerned about terrorism, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar Khan on Wednesday said that the Karachi terror attack is a backlash from the success of the Waziristan campaign.

” Karachi attack is most unfortunate, but, this only means our anti-terrorist campaign by army and air force in Waziristan is succeeding. They (militants) are on the run. No one can say that Pakistan is not sincere about anti-terrorism . Terrorist attack in Karachi is a backlash from the success of the Waziristan campaign,” Khan told ANI here.

At least 47 people were killed in Pakistan’s Karachi city today when the terrorists entered a packed bus and opened fire.

According to reports, 25 men and 16 women have been killed. There were around 60 passengers, including children, on the bus, mostly from the Ismaili community.

A pamphlet found at the spot has claimed the role of the Islamic State (IS) militants in the killings and has threatened more attacks. (ANI)
