Karachi at standstill on day two of MQM custodial death-linked strike

Pakistan’s commercial capital Karachi was at a standstill on Thursday after the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) called for two days of mourning over the death of a party worker in police custody.

According to the Dawn, the MQM announced that all businesses will remain closed.

Various university exams have also been postponed until further notice.

On Wednesday, the party had called for a two-day mourning period after receiving news of the death of a party worker at the Aziz Bhatti police station.

According to a post-mortem, MQM worker Mohammed Wasim died from head injuries caused by a hard and blunt object. (ANI)
