Kanpur’s ‘calculator girl’ aspires to become IAS officer

Kanpur: Kanpur’s Dilpreet Kaur nicknamed ‘calculator girl’ aspires to become an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer.

The 15-year-old has made 11 national and two world records for most number of mathematical calculations in a minute, that too in a short span of one year.

Dilpreet, a resident of Gumti area in Kanpur, has the ability to calculate the fast moving numbers on a screen.

Till date, she has registered her name 13 times in the Limca Book of Records and every time she breaks her previous record.

Dilpreet says she focuses on abacus, adding she would continue to set more records.

Her mother Manjeet Kaur teaches abacus to the students. She tells that once Dilpreet was defeated in Delhi and that incident proved to be a turning point.

“Dilpreet’s first award boosted our morale,” says Manjeet.

She adds, “We have appealed to the Uttar Pradesh Government to teach abacus course to each student.”
