New Delhi: An annual meeting of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s regional pracharaks began on Monday and will continue till July 15 in Bithur, 20 kilometres from here.
The meeting was attended by RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, general secretary Bhaiyyaji Joshi, senior leader Suresh Soni and other senior office bearers. The event began with flag salutation, followed by yoga and lunch.
Meanwhile, Leader of Sunni Ulema Council Haji Aqeel Ahmed arrived at the event and requested to meet the RSS chief. However, the workers said they would forward the council’s letter with six questions to Bhagwat.
This is the second time the council leaders had sought to meet the RSS chief. Two years ago, when the organisation’s meeting was held here, the leaders could not meet Bhagwat. However, a senior RSS leader was later sent to meet them. An office bearer said that the meeting of RSS regional pracharaks is held every year in the month of July in any part of the country. This time Kanpur was selected as the venue.
In the first phase of the meeting from July 11-13, discussions will be held on issues of physical, mental and social interest. In the second phase, 40 organisations associated with RSS, including Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and BJP and Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh, will participate in the meeting. Only the national office bearers of the RSS will participate in the final phase and will review the sessions in the first two phases.
