Kanna Denies Pawar Was Angry At AP Delegation

State Agriculture Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana has denied media reports that Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar had expressed anger at him and other members of a delegation he led, to draw the minister’s attention to problems faced by the State.

Talking to the media after his meeting with Pawar, Kanna said that they had explained the problems of AP farmers and the Union Minister had positively responded.

According to the media reports, Kanna met the Union Minister leading a delegation comprising MPs Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, Nandi Yellaiah, V Hanumantha Rao, Killi Krupa Rani, K V P Ramachandra Rao, Undavalli Arun Kumar, some agriculture scientists and leaders of farmers’ unions.

It was reported that Pawar expressed his anger over the State government coming to him again and again on the same issue. He told the delegation angrily that he knew the State’s problem and said there was no need for AP government representing the State’s problems to him, whenever the Agriculture Minister of that State changed. Stating that AP leaders were coming to him without time or rhyme, he said it looked as if they came to wage a war with him.

However, Congress members of the all-party delegation expressed total satisfaction over the talks. Kavuri Sambasiva Rao said that it was all a joke and the Union minister had spoken to them in a very jovial manner. He said that they had explained the new Seed Act the government was bringing and the problems of the farming community.
