Kanika Kapoor croons for cause of girl child

Mumbai: Singer Kanika Kapoor, who has two daughters, has lent her voice to a song titled “Beti”. It propagates the message of protecting, nurturing and cherishing the girl child.

Ahead of International Daughter’s Day on August 11, Kanika kept her professional commitments on hold to participate in something special that celebrates the girl child.

The singer, who has given hits like “Baby doll”, “Chittiya kalaiya ve” and “Nachan farrate”, says she is happy to be associated with the cause in some way.

“When I heard about the song, I immediately wanted to be a part of it. As a mother of two beautiful girls, Daughter’s Day is a special occasion to me and the cause of the girl child will always remain close to my heart,” Kanika said in a statement.

The inspirational song is from a documentary film titled “Tara…In Search of Stolen Stars” — based on human trafficking and sex trade in India and the implication of gender bias.

“Beti” is written and composed by the film’s director Tannishtha Sarkar.
