New Delhi: Kanhaiya’s elder brother Manikant Kumar Singh says “As lord Krishna was born in jail, this imprisonment is my brother Kanhaiya’s real birth.”
Singh said.”The JNU students’ union president will be a different person when he is out and more dedicated towards his ideology and struggle for truth”.
As High court has repeatedly rejected the hearing of Kanhaiya Kumar’s bail plea, he said: “If not granted bail, my brother will complete his PhD from the cell, as did Bhagat Singh.”
Manikant and his uncle are returning to their village in a day or two. Manikant who runs a private business in Assam said he and his uncle had been in Delhi for three days and were able to see Kanhaiya only once.
He said. “My mother wanted to come to Delhi for Kanhaiya but she can’t leave my father, who is paralyzed. While leaving the village, I had assured her that her younger son would be taken care of. I thought once released, I will take him home so that mother can see him but it does not seem to be happening soon. I fear to face my mother empty-handed.”
He added. “We know he is not guilty. Even if the students raise some slogans, which they should not have, they are all students. Why was police called in? Couldn’t they be handled with peace? The government could not handle the situation well. It was blown out of proportion. Judiciary is our last hope and we are sure it will bring some respite to the family.”
