Kandahar blast kills 6 ahead of elections

Kandhar, August 20: A blast has left six people killed in the Afghan city of Kandahar as 17 million people are getting ready to vote in the presidential elections.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the early Thursday attack, a Press TV correspondent reported.

More than 300,000 forces have been deployed to maintain security across the country amid Taliban threats.

Kabul called on local and international media outlets to refrain from reporting violent incidents a day ahead of the crucial presidential elections.

However, Afghan journalists accused the government of violating the constitution by trying to censor reports of violence on Election Day.
