Kanaka Durga temple spruced up

Vijayawada, December 07: Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam, Indrakeeladri, is all set for the conclusion of Bhavani Deekshalu-2009 to be held from December 8 to 12.

The temple authorities are making elaborate arrangements for the five-day event.

Temple Executive Officer N Vijay Kumar is supervising the arrangements to ensure that pilgrims did not face any inconvenience.

Temple authorities made special arrangements for Bhavani devotees. They will be allowed a darshan of Goddess Kanaka Durga from 3 a.m to 11 p.m every day. During these days, the temple will conduct special rituals and poojas to appease the presiding deity.

On December 8 and 12, Agni Prathistapana and Purnahuthi will be organised at 8 am and 11 am respectively.

Similarly, the ‘homagundalu’ will be organised at Mallikarjunapet and Jammidoddi at Mallikharjunapeta and Jammidoddi.

Keshakandana (tonsure) counters would be opened at the Main Bus Stand, Punnami Ghat, Durga Ghat, Krishnaveni Ghat, Sitammavari Padalu and Bhavani Ghat in addition to the existing counter on Indrakeeladri temple.

The conclusion of Irumudi for Bhavani’s will be facilitated at Mallikarjunapet and Jammidoddi. Prasadam counters will be opened at Kanakadurga Nagar and Jammidoddi.

Visitors can utilise the cloak rooms at Padmavathi Ghat, Sitammavari Padalu, Municipal Office, Durga Ghat, Kummaripalem Centre, Punnami Ghat, Bhavani Ghat and Krishna Ghat. Annadanam will be provided by the temple authorities at Sringeri Math.
