New Delhi, August 03: Former Test batsman Vinod Kambli has once again pointed fingers at the selectors for ruining his career and claimed that he was never given a reason for his exit from the national team.
Kambli reiterated that despite the growing controversies about his relation with Sachin Tendulkar, there hasn’t been any differences between the two.
He further claimed that although he did make a few come backs into the team, he was never allowed to bat at his usual number three psotion where he had done extremely well.
”I was given a few chances but what type of chances? They did not give me the no 3 spot. Every time I was asked to bat at seven or eighth position and it happened with me every time even when I debuted. Then also they dropped me and without any reason,” Kamble told CNN IBN in an interview.
”There are so many players who are so famous and they also go through bad phases but they have never been dropped out. ”And, when every one get chances so why after 1994 selectors did not give me a single Test match. What is the benefit of my average? I feel if I had played badly in just one series in the West Indies, they should have given me another series and may be I would have played very well in the next and moreover it may have given me confidence at least,” said Kambli who has played 17 Tests for India.
The left-hander’s off-field always kept this on-field heroics at the backseat but Kambli claims that he never compromised on his game
.
He said every player has a private life but in his case, he always did everything in open and that was what made the headlines.
”I only want to say to people that what I am today is because of cricket. Off the field is our personal life and we know how to manage our personal life and professional life. ”We played cricket 6 to 5 and rest of the time cricketers used to do everything secretly but I used to do every thing openly. And there was nothing wrong in it. And if any one feels that I was doing something wrong then he needs to say it on my face,” he stressed.
He further asserted that there are no differences between him and Tendulkar as being reported for quite some time now.
In a reality show last month, Kambli had claimed that Tendulkar could have resurrected his fledgling career but advocates, saying that his long-standing friendship was as good as it was ever since.
”No never because we were together from our childhood when we were of 10 years. He did motivate me.
”No (differences). Not even a bit. If you have seen that show then you do understand that statement. What I said was about a motivation. I said that you need a motivation in all walks of life. ”In your life somewhere or other you need a motivation, which you get from your parents or brother or friends, fan I have just talked about motivation and nothing else about our friendship,” he added.
With his cricketing career over now, Kambli now looks forward to open a cricket academy for the poors.
”Cricket has given me everything. Now I think that it’s time to pay back and do something for sports. My main aim is to open a sports academy where poor children will be given a complete chance to enhance their skills,” he revealed.
