Kamalanathan Committee on State Bifurcation and distribution of officials, assets, liabilities and files, today held a high level official review with Finance department.
According to informed sources, Kamalanathan today closeted with PV Ramesh, Principal Secretary Finance Department and discussed the issues pertaining to financial matters. He directed Ramesh to complete expeditiously the financial related issues and submit a report. Since two States will come into effect from June 2 and general elections are to be held a bit early besides those of Municipalities, the government is in a giffy to complete the given assignment on bifurcation, sources said.
Kamalanathan Committee is expected to wind up the process and submit a report shortly, it is learnt. As the bifurcation process speeded up, the duo is said to have coming to a conclusion on finalising the issues of the Finance department.
The meeting assumes significance as Kamalanathan visited the Centre along with State Chief Secretary P K Mohanty and apprised it of the bifurcation process and speedy dispersal of files. Besides distribution of officials, it may be noted that the Committee informed the Centre of its willingness to conclude the process as early as possible as sought. The Centre is understood to have asked the five-member Kamalanathan Committee to wind up the bifurcation process by completing the given assignment at the earliest. (NSS)
