Kalyanamastu-VI across state on May 20

Tirupati, February 25: The sixth edition of Kalynamastu, the mass marriage programme conducted by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, will be held across the state simultaneously on May 20.

Disclosing this to mediapersons here today, TTD executive officer IYR Krishna Rao said elaborate arrangements were being made for the prestigious event whose main objective is to facilitate poor people among the Hindus enter into wedlock with the blessings of Lord Venkateswara.

He said the Pandita Parishat consisting of TTD’s Asthana Panchangakarta Tangirala Prabhakara Purnaiah S i d d h a n t i , Agama advisers Sundaravadana Bhattacharyulu and Vedantam Vishnu Bhat – tacharyulu, SV Veda Pathasala principal Sriramamurthy fixed the muhurtam for the mass wedding.

It will be held in the Telugu calendar year of Kara i n the month of Vaisakha when the Moola nakshatram is in ascendancy and the tithi is Bahula Tadiya, the day being Friday, during auspicious the Karkataka Lagnam between 9:57 am and 10:04 am.

“Like all previous editions of Kalyanamastu, the sixth will be held at the headquarters of every Assembly constituency with the help of the state government. As in all the earlier edition of the programme, the TTD would provide gold Mangalasutram and silver Mettelu (toe-rings), new clothes to the bride and bridegroom, and wedding feast to a limited number of relatives and friends.

TTD joint executive officer N Yuvaraj, deputy executive officer (DPP) Umapathy Reddy, deputy executive officer (recruitment cell) Chenchulakshmi and DPP secretary Kasireddy Venkata Reddy were present at the press conference.
