The prestigious Kaleshwaram project works are going on in a war-footing in three shifts of work, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today said.
After inspecting the works of the projects, Harish Rao said Ellampally project will be completed by next rainy season. He instructed the officials to complete the rest of 20 per cent works in two months. He told the media at the project site that out of 5.81 cr lakh cubic meters earth works, 4.50 cr cubic meter works of Annaram, Sundilla and Medigadda barrages were completed so far. Efforts are being made to complete the works of three barrages and three pump houses as per the direction of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
About 80 per cent of cement concrete works of three barrages and pump houses were over so far and 70 per cent of canal gravity works between Annaram and Sundilla were over. He said 66 gates of Annaram, 86 gates of Medigadda and 74 gates for Sundilla have to be fixed.
As per the plan, the officials fixed first gate to Kaleshwaram project and started fixing the gates for Annaram barrage. He directed that the works should be completed in a couple of months as per direction of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Stating that electrical works are going on very fast, Harish said machines for pump houses will be imported from Japan, Switzerland and Austria in 10 days. (NSS)
