Jaipur, June 30: Banking on his Ranji Trophy performances last season, India discard Mohammed Kaif is still hopeful of staging a comeback and regaining his spot in the national team.
”I belief in god and I am still hopeful of making a comeback in Team India”, Kaif, who was here to participate in four-day Rajasthan Royals training session at Sawai Man Singh Stadium, told UNI today.
”I have been playing well in the Ranji Trophy. I have scored more then thousand runs in last season. ”I am also working hard in off-seasons and I am quite fit for the all the three formats-Test, ODI’s and Twenty20, of the game,” he added.
Kaif led Uttar Pradesh to the Ranji Trophy finals three times, winning once, in last four years.
The Ranji Trophy UP captain, who was the integral part of Rajasthan Royals squad in the inagural IPL but was dumped in the second edition of the cash-rich extravagnza, further added that skipper Shane Warne will make the final call about his inclusion in the playing XI for upcoming matches.
”I would be in the team or not for the upcoming matches will depends on skipper Shane Warne,” Kaif asserted.
Rajasthan Royals is scheduled to play a Twenty20 match against regining English T-20 champion Middlesex on July 6 at Lord’s.
However, he declined to make any comment on Rajasthan Royals’ performance in the second edition of IPL, in which the inagural edition champions failed to make into the last four stage of the tournament. ”I was not a member of the Rajasthan Royals team in IPL-2 so I does not want to make comment over teams performance in the tournament,” he quipped.
Apart from Kaif, Rajasthan Royals players, Siddartha Trivedi, Dinesh Salunkhe, Amit Singh and Swapnil Asnodkar were also present here to attend the training session.
