Kadiri man dies of starvation in Saudi Arabia

Anantapur, May 14: A driver from Kadiri in Anantapur district who went to the Middle East in search of greener pastures 40 days ago was instead stranded in the deserts of Saudi Arabia and died of starvation. According to reports reaching the family, Shaik Ataullah went to work as a driver in Kuwait, but was forced to go to Saudi Arabia to work as a shepherd. Ataullah (27) was a resident of Nalla Gutta Veedhi in Kadiri town. He is survived by his wife and three children.

Unable to make ends meet, Ataullah decided to go to the Middle East for employment.

Ataullah borrowed money from his friends and relatives and managed to leave for Kuwait hoping to work as a driver.

Once in Kuwait, Ataullah was shocked to know that his employer wanted him to work at a sheep farm in Saudi Arabia.

Ataullah was not given proper food and died of starvation yesterday, reports reaching here said.

Ataullah’s employer asked the family to send Rs 2 lakh for the expenses to send the body back.

Collector B Janardhan Reddy assured the family of all possible help in getting the body back.
