Madrid, September 24: Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi will make a private visit to southern Spain next week, a foreign ministry source said.
No meetings are scheduled with Spanish officials during the trip to the Andalucia region from Tuesday.
The source gave no further details on the visit by Kadhafi, who on Wednesday berated Western powers at the UN General Assembly in New York.
The newspaper ABC said Kadhafi told Spanish authorities that he hoped to return to Andalucia on his way back from attending a joint summit of the African Union and the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) in Venezuela this weekend.
In December 2007, he visited Cordoba and Grenada in Andalucia, two cities associated with the occupation of the Iberian peninsula by the Moors from north Africa between 711 and 1492.
Spain has traditionally had strong ties with Arab nations and it is a major foreign investor in Libya.
