Kadapa former Mayor surrenders before court:Forgery case

Former chief minister late Dr YS Rajashekar Reddy’s brother-in-law and Kadapa former mayor Ravindranath Reddy has surrendered before the Kadapa District Court on Tuesday. The Court has imposed 14 day judicial remand on Ravindranath Reddy. Meanwhile, the police petitioned the Court asking it to hand him over for inquiry.

It may be recalled that the Kadapa police had registered cheating, forgery cases against Ravindranath Reddy, who was facing allegations that he indulged in forgery during cooperative elections. It is also said that Ravindranath Reddy he went underground for the last 15 days.

Expecting arrest at any time, Ravindranath Reddy surrendered before the Court. Ravindra Reddy created a scene during the Cooperative election, pulling up the officers of the cooperative department. But unexpectedly he went absconding from the same day.

A case was registered against Ravindranath Reddy that he allegedly prepared a Kadapa district cooperative officer’s stamp and forged the officer’s sign.

YSRCP alleged that TDP and Congress colluded with each other and prepared bogus voters lists at Pedda Cheppali society which falls under Kamalapuram constituency.

Ravindranath Reddy said that time that he lodged a complaint with the district cooperative officer on this issue. He also handed over the Xerox copies of a complaint endorsed by the district cooperative officer with office stamp to the local cooperative officers of Pedda Cheppali village. Depending upon the complaint, the local cooperative officers began inquiry though the TDP leaders expressed their objections stating that the time was over to receive complaints.

Curiously, the District Cooperative officer Chandrashekar made it clear that he didn’t sign the complaint as claimed by Ravindranath Reddy. He also made it clear that he observed the forgery of his sign and the stamp when Ravindranath Reddy gave Xerox copies also to him on January 12. Reacting on this, the TDP leaders lodged a complaint against Ravindranath Reddy with the SP. The Kadapa One Town police have registered cases under 420, 468, 473 sections.

Ravindranath Reddy approached the Court asking it to dismiss the cases registered against him and to see that the police did not arrest him. The Court examined the papers submitted by the police and made it clear 15 days ago that it will not interfere in the case at this juncture. Thereupon, Ravindranath Reddy had allegedly went underground thinking that the police may detain him. Surprisingly, Ravindranath Reddy surrendered before the Court on Tuesday.
