Rajhmundary, February 14: Praja Rajyam Party district president Jyothula Nehru who opposed the merger of PRP with the ruling Congress, is planning to join the new party to be floated by former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
He is likely to join Jagan camp at a public meeting at Jaggampeta on February 17 or 19 after obtaining the consent of the former MP. Former BJP MLA Pendem Dorababu and former ZPTC member Attili Sitarama Swamy will also join Jagan camp on the same day.
Nehru who served Telugu Desam Party (TDP) since its inception, joined the PRP in 2008. He unsuccessfully contested from Jaggampeta Assembly constituency in 2009 elections.
In the wake of Chiranjeevi’s decision to merge his party with the Congress, he discussed his future course of action with his supporters. A majority of his followers advised him to join Jagan camp instead of returning to the TDP. Other Kapu leaders in the PRP are also likely to join Jagan camp.
PRP MLAs Vanga Geetha (Pithapuram), Pantham Gandhi Mohan (Peddapuram), Bandaru Satyanand Rao (Kothapeta) and Kurasala Kannababu (Kakinada Rural), and former MLA Thota Trimurthulu are yet to take a decision.
