Press Council of India (PCI) Chairman Markandey Katju on Friday directed the Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalitha to immediately arrest 30 policemen who are involved in the raid of Tamil Daily Editor’s house.
Justice Katju heard 19 complaints regarding newspapers and media belonging to Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.
S. Manimaran, Editor of Tamil daily Dhinaboomi, Madurai had lodged a complaint against Tamil police in the year 2011 in which he alleged that thirty policemen raided his house and abducted him. After hearing the complaint of the editor, Katju expressed his ire at the inaction of the Tamil Nadu government over the incident and asked Tamil Nadu government to quit or run the administration in accordance with the Constitution.
